Ballards Walk

Dec 6, 2009
10:0017:00
10:0017:00

The annual Ballards Walk will be on Sunday December 6 this year; once again, we’re organising a bus to get you there.

We’ll start at the brewery, where the full range of beers should be on sale, including the new Old Bounder ale which weighs in at around 9%! (Drink responsibly: if you fall in a ditch someone’s bound to take a photo and send it to the Sussex Drinker…)

Afterwards, you’re free to walk across fields or roads to the local pubs, where more beer will be available. The bus will be picking up from some of these at around 3, and will probably be stopping at a couple more on the way home.

Pickup locations and times are yet to be confirmed, but should be Worthing, Littlehampton, Yapton, Barnham and Chichester; the ticket price is £8 and you can book by contacting Pete Brown on (01243) 552908.

Summer Bus Cruise

Jun 20, 2009

The summer Bus Cruise will include an early visit to the Duke of Cumberland Arms, Henley, where we will be presenting the certificate for Branch Pub of the Year.

Later on, we’ll head to Langham Brewery, followed by a walk up the road to the Hollist Arms, Lodsworth. The rest of the afternoon will be spent at the White Horse, Graffham, for their midsummer beer festival.

Most of the stops have been stretched to 90 minutes to make a nice relaxing day out.

Once again, our transport will be old 199, the lovely 1968 Southdown “one-man operated” Leyland Leopard. Pick ups are at Worthing station (09:00); Littlehampton station (09:30); Maypole Lane, Yapton (09:45); Chichester station, south side (10:15). We should be back at Chichester by 18:30, dropping off in the reverse order.

Tickets are limited to 45 seats, and are now on sale at £15 a head, including the brewery visit.

Ballards Brewery Walk

Dec 7, 2008
10:0019:00

Once again it’s time for the annual Ballards Brewery Walk, and we have a classic bus running to get you there.

Cost should be around £8, but due to a number of no-shows pushing up the cost for everyone else in previous years, there’s a non-refundable £5 deposit to pay this year.

Pickups should be Littlehampton, Ford, Yapton, Barnham and Chichester, as in previous years. We’ll be starting at Ballards Brewery, then walking to participating pubs: the Ship, South Harting, the Three Horseshoes and the Elsted Inn, Elsted, and the Southdowns Hotel and Keepers Arms, Trotton. The bus will then take us home via the White Horse, Rogate and the Country Inn, Bepton.

For more details (including pickup times!) and to book, call Pete Brown on 01243 552908 (evenings)

UPDATE: pickup times are 0810 Worthing station, 0845 Littlehampton station, 0900 Maypole Lane, Yapton, 0905 Barnham station, 0925 Chichester station. Seats are almost sold out, so book soon!

Bus Cruise

Apr 19, 2008

First, a note: this Bus Cruise uses service buses, not a charter service.

You’ll need to buy a Explorer rather than the Stagecoach day ticket, as not all the buses are run by Stagecoach.

The trip will start at 11:10 on the number 54 from Chichester bus station. The plans are to visit the Ship, South Harting, the Three Horseshoes, Elsted, and the White Horse, Rogate. As there’s about a mile of walking involved, that plan may change if the weather’s foul (again). You should be back in Chichester by about 18:30.

Contact Ian Jarman for further details, including start time: 01243 788524.
